Stuart R. Deardorff
Stu has over 20 years of experience representing defense clients in all aspects of civil litigation. His practice focuses on construction litigation, premises/safe place liability, coverage analysis, general negligence, auto liability, trucking, and hospitality industry litigation.
Stu believes the most valuable representation starts with quality client communication. Once the legal issues are identified in a case, Stu works closely with the client to set realistic goals and develop a sound litigation strategy. Stu efficiently and effectively executes that strategy while at all times keeping the client advised of significant developments in the litigation process. This winning philosophy has earned Stu the highest regard from clients and colleagues alike. In February 2011, Stu was honored by the Wisconsin Law Journal as a ”Leader in the Law” based on achievement criteria such as outstanding leadership, vision, and legal expertise. In 2011 and 2012, Stu was recognized among top insurance defense attorneys in the state, as reported by Milwaukee Magazine in Law & Politics’ “Wisconsin Super Lawyers” survey. Only 5% of the total lawyers in Wisconsin are listed as Super Lawyers.
After graduating with honors from Kent College of Law in Chicago, Illinois in 1987, Stu practiced as a personal injury attorney in Chicago. Following commissioning as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, he spent four years as a criminal defense lawyer, prosecutor, Special Assistant United States Attorney, and legal advisor to the Commander of Great Lakes Naval Base. Stu returned to private practice in 1992. He is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Defense Counsel, and the Defense Research Institute. A native of Milwaukee, Stuart enjoys coaching youth athletics, playing tennis, and taking on home improvement projects.
